Jean Swanson, 72, of Belvidere, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 in her son’s home in Hebron, Illinois following a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born June 11, 1935 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of William and Marilyn (Rust) Herrmann. She married Bert Swanson in Chicago, Illinois on June 16, 1985. Jean was employed as a Registered Nurse for Ravenswood Hospital, Christ Hospital and Blue Cross/Blue Shield. She was a member of Belvidere Assembly of God. She taught Sunday School to 5 to 7 year old children. Jean was involved with the Four Seasons Property Owners Association having served as vice president. She was also a member of R.S.V.P. She is survived by her husband, Bert; two children, Steven (Brenda) Fritsch, Hebron, Illinois; Catherine (Paul R.) Maxey, Kenosha, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Brandon, Valerie, Jolene, Kevin, Monica and Nichole; 1 great grandchild, Alize A. Tetzlaff; and a sister, Jane Fischer, Williamsville, New York. She was preceded in death by parents and a daughter, Susan.

Funeral Information

Funeral service 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av. with Pastor, Dale Anderson of Belvidere Assembly of God, officiating. Cremation to take place following the service with burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
