Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, and Friend

Louise May Burton, 82, of Poplar Grove, died Wednesday, September 8, 2010, with her family by her side, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born January 1, 1928 on the farm in Boone County, daughter of Raymond S. and Hazel (Sturges) Winne. Married Bruce Burton on January 15, 1947 in Belvidere, he died July 29, 1989. She was a graduate of Belvidere High School, class of 1945, and a member of Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, and the United Methodist Women Noon Circle. She worked for Rockford Screw Products as a bookkeeper, for St. Joseph Hospital and White Sundstrands as a kitchen manager, and at McDonalds during her retirement. Louise was an avid bowler, loved fishing with her brother, enjoyed traveling, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors include daughters: Mari Louise Silverman of Tucson, AZ, Theresa (Dick) Leonard of Belvidere and Cindy Bixby of Sheffield, IL; son: Larry B. Burton of Poplar Grove; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; brother Harold (Gail) Winne of Machesney Park and sister Doris Welch of Grand Rapids, MI; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband and brother Clifford Winne.

Funeral Information

Funeral service 10 AM, Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., with Rev. Jon Critchfield officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation from 9 AM until time of service in the funeral home.
