Robert “Bob” Kenkel, 66, of Belvidere, passed away Wednesday, September 1, 2010 in his home following a one-year illness. Bob was born October 10, 1943 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Frank and Irene (Schnee) Kenkel. He attended Dubuque schools. Bob retired from the Chrysler Corporation in 2001 after 35 years of employment, and was a member of UAW Local 1268. After retirement, Bob worked for the Community Building Complex. Family and friends remember him as a loyal Green Bay Packer fan. He enjoyed bowling and spending time with family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Linda (Hadowanetz) Kenkel; four daughters, Shelly (Butch) Rosecke, Karen (Eugene) Dwars, Jackie Kenkel, and Kerrie (Cory) Bidlingmaier; four stepchildren, Kelly (BJ) Schmitt, Danny Schromen, Robbie Schromen, and Ryan Schromen; Fourteen grandchildren; two sisters, Marlene (James) Hellmann and Barb (Joe) Meyer, and “Special” son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Diana Anderson. He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, William (Jean) Kenkel and John (Jan) Kenkel. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michalsen, Dr. Kahn, Dr. Bryan, Dr. Bradley, Chaplain, Ed Greenfield, OSF Hospice and Susan Mead at Northwoods Care Centre. Funeral InformationFuneral services 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 6, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Av. The Rev. Ed Greenfield, chaplain of OSF Hospice to officiate. Cremation will take place following the service. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
