Gordon A. “Rosie” Rosenbalm, 81 of Poplar Grove, IL died Wednesday morning, July 7, 2010 in Valley Hi Nursing Center, Woodstock after a long illness. Rosie was born August 23, 1928 in LaValle, Wisconsin the son of Andrew and Lydia (Miller) Rosenbalm. On December 4, 1951 he was united in marriage to Alice June Turner in Opelika, Alabama. Rosie enjoyed playing cards and helping his friends and neighbors. Rosie and Alice were fifty year residents of Poplar Grove. He was employed by Borden Dairy and Clark Oil for many years. Rosie served our country in the US Army Airborne during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Boone Post 77. When his children were young, he was involved in Poplar Grove Little League and Boy Scouts. Rosie was an Honorary Life Time member of the North Boone Music Boosters. Rosie is loved and will be missed by his wife, Alice June; sons, Tom Rosenbalm of Mendota, IL, Marvin (Robin) Rosenbalm of Poplar Grove, Henry Rosenbalm of Brooklyn, WI; daughters, Dawn (Wayne) Redner of So. Beloit, IL, Judy Johnson of Poplar Grove; sisters Marge (Jean) Kimmel of Talkeetna, Alaska, Shirley (Ken) Reinfeldt of Reedsburg, WI, Beverly Smith of Evansville, WI many nieces and nephews; twelve Grandchildren and nineteen Great-Grandchildren. He is predeceased by his parents; four sisters, Alice Wagner, Lucille Yetchman, Arline Wagner and Navada St. Clair; brother, John Rosenbalm. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Pastor Tom Hay, of Hunter and Blaine United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Poplar Grove Cemetery.
