Belvidere, IL Dale L. Chambers, 78, Belvidere, IL died unexpectedly Tuesday evening, July 13, 2010 in Swedish American- Belvidere, after a lingering illness. Dale was born August 7, 1931 in Tomah, Wisconsin the son of Lester and Alice (Martin) Chambers. He retired from Standard Oil in 1993 where he worked as an agent and also worked for Belvidere Ace Hardware and Bob’s Hardware in Rockford. Dale was a sports fan and avid bowler. He was the first person to bowl a 300 game at Concordia Lanes in Belvidere. He enjoyed fishing trips and will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his enjoyment for life and spending time with his family and many friends. Dale is loved and will be missed by his daughter, Lori (Steve) Hilden of Belvidere; granddaughter, Stephanie who was the light of his eye; brothers and sisters, Artis Curtis of Fredrick, WI, Caryl Pettey of Belvidere, Ida Vail of Belvidere, Everett (Leslee) Chambers of Strasburg, CO, Howard (Dixie) Chambers of Belvidere; brother in-law James Nelson; numerous nieces and nephews. Dale is predeceased by his parents, sister Jane Nelson; brothers-in-law Dave Vail, Joe Pettey and Bob Curtis. The family would like to recognize and give special thanks to his neighbors for their watchful eye and caring concern given to Dale. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave, Belvidere, IL with Rev. James Crone, pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
