Esther D. Breyer, 99, of Rockford, Illinois, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 in Crimson Pointe Assisted Living Center. She was born May 28, 1911 in Itasca, Illinois, daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina (Cassier) Kroeger. She moved to Rockford four years ago from Clearwater, Florida. Esther was married to Raymond Meyer in February 1935, she later married William Breyer in Clearwater, Florida on June 6, 1972. She was a co-owner with her first husband of Rayes Motel in Dunedin, Florida. Esther later worked as a retail clerk for the A&P Grocery stores in Illinois and Florida as well as a clerk for Ivy’s Department Store in Florida. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clearwater Florida. In her spare time, Esther enjoyed Bingo, Shuffle boarding and taking her birthday motorcycle rides with her grandson. She is survived by her daughter, Joan (Ralph) Sounde, Belvidere, Illinois; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; nine nieces and five nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a son, James D. Meyer; six brothers; two sisters; and two nieces.

Funeral Information

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2010 in the Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home. Entombment will take place at the Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park Mausoleum in Clearwater, Florida.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Transistions Hospice of Rockford or Alzheimer’s Disease Research in her memory.
