Maynard J.E. Backs, age 88 of Poplar Grove, IL died Sunday morning, June 12, 2005 in his home after a lingering illness. Maynard was born August 9, 1916 in Caledonia, IL the son of William M. and Lena L. (Richter) Backs. Maynard graduated from Hononegah High School in 1934.He married Annamae Swanson on June 14, 1941 in Belvidere. Maynard was a Dairy Farmer in northern Boone County and worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation retiring in 1984. In 1959, Maynard became the Illinois State Two Row Corn Picking Champion. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Poplar Grove Lions Club. Survivors include his children, Suzanne M. (Paul) Hendren of Champaign, IL, Edward J. (Karen) Backs of Belvidere, IL, Marsha L. (Lee) Larson of Marion, IL, Eva M. (David) Glatt of Kokomo, IN, and Amy R. (Danny) Schultz of Kenosha, WI; ten Grandchildren and twelve Great-Grandchildren. Maynard is predeceased by his parents, wife Annamae in 1964,sister, Helen Razim and infant grandson Brett. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2005 in Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1225 E. 2nd Street at Genoa Rd, Belvidere, IL, with Rev. Allan Buss officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Loves Park, IL. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2005 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W.
