Dustin Jared Smith, 27, of Belvidere, IL died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Dustin was born April 23, 1984 in Harvard, IL the beloved son of Cheryl Russell-Smith and William Smith. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 2003. Dustin worked at Russell-Smith Insurance Agency and Law Offices for three years, Maria’s Pizza, and most recently at Tom and Jerry’s in Belvidere. Dustin enjoyed snowboarding and fishing with his nephews; he was an avid Oakland Raiders football fan and a Chicago Cub fan.

Dustin is survived by his father, William Smith of Harvard; his mother, Cheryl Russell-Smith of Belvidere; brother, Brandon (Kathy) Smith of Belvidere; sister, Michele (Shane) Fitch of Belvidere; nephews, Jared Keating, Alec Smith, Jordan Fitch, Jacob Fitch; nieces, Sadie Fitch, Bailey Smith, Lexi Smith; maternal grandmother, Joyce Russell; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends; his dog “Bandit”. Dustin is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Jesse and Evelyn Smith; maternal grandfather, George Russell; and his aunt Vickie Russell.

Dustin was a Gift of Life Organ Donor. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tom Michalsen and the nurses and doctors at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, who took excellent care of Dustin.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, IL with Rev. Gordy Smith, of Heartland Community Church officiating. Burial will be in Belvidere Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
