Mrs. Margie E. Pond

June 25, 1932 - July 23, 2010

Margie E. Pond, 78, of Belvidere, died Friday, July 23, 2010 in her home following a lengthy illness. She was born on June 25, 1932 in Rockford, Illinois, the daughter of Elmer and Myrtle (Lobedan) Carlson. Margie married Stanley E. Pond in Rockford on October 13, 1951. She was employed as an Inspector of Electronic Parts for Barber-Colman Company for twenty years. Margie attended Cathedral Baptist Church. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church in Florida, where she was instrumental in printing the church bulletins. She was also a member of the North Florida Post Polio Association. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts and crocheting. Margie is survived by her husband, Stanley, of Belvidere; three children, Marcia (Jerry) Brus, Harvard, Illinois; Suzette (John) Justus, Belvidere, Illinois and Kenneth (Sheila) Pond, Machesney Park, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Beth (Dan) Burrus, Sara Justus, Emma Justus, Benjamin Justus, Allison Pond, Andrew Pond, and Lea Brus; and a great-grandchild, Jeselyn Burrus; a brother William Carlson of Palatka, Florida. She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother Clifford Carlson.

Funeral Information

Funeral service 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 28, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home 218 W. Hurlbut Avenue with Pastor Tom Freeman of Cathedral Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
