Michelle L. Bertram, 60, of Garden Prairie, Illinois died Wednesday, May 7, 2008 in Swedish-American Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born July 27, 1947 in Ogden, Utah, daughter of Vivien and Catherine (Hillman) Nalder. She has lived in Garden Prairie for the past 26 years. She came to the area from Utah. Michelle married Ron Bertram in Monticello, Kentucky on November 27, 1982. She was employed as a speech pathologist for the Belvidere School District 100. Michelle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. She graduated from Ricks College and Utah State University. Family meant everything to Michelle. Evenings and weekends would find her out to the roping pen. She was an amazing woman. She helped hundreds of kids through her years with the school district. Every one of them were special to her. Michelle gave everything her all. If she couldn’t give anything else, she’d always give you a hard time. Michelle is survived by her husband Ron, Garden Prairie; a son, Shawn (Cindy) Clark; two grandchildren, Casey and Taylor Clark, all of Belvidere; her mother, Catherine Nalder; six siblings, Jackie (Nick) Hillman; Dan (Arleen) Nalder; Carolyn (Randy) Weaver; Debra (Ron) Rose; Tim Nalder and Bill Nalder. Preceded in death by her father and Giselle Nalder, her sister-in-law.

Funeral Information

A Celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 22106 Anthony Road, Marengo, Illinois. Michelle would have requested casual or western wear to celebrate her life. Cremation rites to take place.

Donations Information

In lieu of flowers, an Education Fund will be established in her name.
