Mr. Russell D. Hanson Sr.

Russell Duane Hanson, Sr., 76, of Belvidere, died Monday, January 2, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family. Born March 31, 1935 in New Auburn, Wisc., son of Leo and Lillian (Austin) Hanson. Married Audrey A. Wirth on August 14, 1954 in Belvidere, she died in March of 2007. Owned Sr-Jr Sportsman’s Bar for 20 years. Member of the VFW and American Legion in Belvidere. Loved hunting, fishing and bowling, an avid Packer’s and Cub’s fan and was happiest with a cold Hamm’s beer in his hand. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Hospice Care of America and caregivers Jennifer and Willie for their care and compassion.
Survivors include his sons Russ (Risa) Hanson, Jr., Ricky (Lynda) Hanson, daughter Renee Hanson, and brother Glenn Hanson. Predeceased by parents, wife Audrey and brother Ron Hanson.

Funeral Information

Funeral service 10 AM, Saturday, January 7, 2012 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere with Rev. Ross Miley officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation 5 to 8 PM, Friday in the funeral home.
