Poplar Grove, Illinois Jean A. Hazlewood, 85, of Poplar Grove, IL died peacefully Tuesday evening August 17, 2010 in the home of her niece after a short illness. Jean was born March 14, 1925 on her family’s farm in Boone County, the daughter of Arthur E. and Esther (Lyford) Hazlewood. Jean graduated from St. Anthony School of Nursing and embarked on a career in nursing. She worked for over thirty-five years as a nurse for Dr. Frederick, retiring in 1989. She was also the church organist for Blaine United Methodist Church where she was a life long member. In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts; making jewelry, stain glass art, weaving and pottery. Jean also enjoyed her flower gardens and was especially fond of orchids. She was a firm supporter of education. Jean is loved and will be missed by her brother, Laverne (Natalie) Hazlewood of Poplar Grove; nieces, Barbara (John) Hazlewood-Miller of Poplar Grove, Susan (Randy) Hazlewood-Roberson of Rockford, Sharon (Jeff) Hazlewood Peters of Poplar Grove; great nieces and nephews, Glen Miller, Laura (Kelsey) Lueshen, Adam Miller, Joshua Roberson, Kaila Roberson, Brittney (Brandon) Jacobs and Brendan Peters. Jean is predeceased by her parents. Funeral InformationFuneral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere, Il with Rev. Fa. Jeremy Trowbridge, a family friend officiating. Burial in Blaine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30 to service time Friday at the funeral home.
