Carl L. Greenlee, 48, of Belvidere, IL died unexpectedly on Sunday August 15, 2010 in his home. Carl was born November 5, 1961 in Belvidere and was raised by his parents Carol Greenlee Smith and John Smith. He graduated from the special education program at Belvidere High School. Carl was employed by Burger King for 25 years, as a porter, in Belvidere. He began his employment while in high school and exemplified a devoted work ethic. Carl was very interested in our community’s buildings and architecture and the historical aspects of Boone County. He enjoyed attending the Boone County Fair, Spencer and Belvidere Parks; reading and the simple things of life. Carl was a very gentle soul.

Carl is loved and will be missed by his mother, Carol Greenlee Smith; sister, Brenda Smith; niece and nephews, Brittney Mancilla, Jacob Menges and Ethan Menges; special friends, Howard (Gloria) Powell, Barb Powell, Wanda Dorris, Cheryl Ellsworth, Roger Deeds, Nancy Kingery and Patty Fuller; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his dad, John Smith.

Funeral Information

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010 in Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Funeral Home with Rev. James Crone, Pastor of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Highland Garden of Memories. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
