LeRoy C. Ehrhardt, 92, of Poplar Grove, Illinois died Thursday, August 5, 2010 in O.S.F. St. Anthony Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born on March 31, 1918 in Park Ridge, Illinois, the son of Paul and Hattie (Behrendt) Ehrhardt.LeRoy married Esther Beckmann in Elmhurst, Illinois on April 26, 1941. LeRoy and his wife Esther moved to Poplar Grove in 1990, coming here from Park, Ridge, Illinois. He was the owner of greenhouses until 1958, he then later worked as a custodian for St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church. LeRoy and his wife, Esther were members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere and former members of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, Illinois. He enjoyed playing in the band he created called, Hardt’s Melodiers. He was an accomplished trumpeter, keyboard and vocalist. In addition to music, he enjoyed bowling. LeRoy is survived by his four children, James (Helen) Ehrhardt, of Rockford, Illinois; Darlene (James) Miller, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Linda (Tim) Cole, of Poplar Grove, Illinois and Andrea (Robert) Kostelny, of Naperville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife in 2004, a son, Gary Ehrhardt, a sister and two brothers. Funeral InformationFuneral service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 in St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 260 Northwest Parkway, Park Ridge, Illinois. The Rev. Eugene Wille will officiate. Burial in Town of Maine Cemetery, Park Ridge, Illinois. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10 in Immanuel Lutheran Church 1045 E. Belvidere Rd. Belvidere, Illinois and 10:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church.
